A Child Like You

Tomorrow a page will be sent home from the book ‘Children Just Like Me’ that we have been looking at in class as part of our A Child Like Me project.
Next week we will be making our own page based on the format of this book. Please can you talk to your family about who is in your family, food, toys, clothes and home so you are ready to create your own page in class next week. We hope to produce a class book similar to ‘Children Just Like Me’.
If you want to bring in pictures or photos from home to use as part of your page, that would be most welcome.

We look forward to finding out all about you.

Next we had our picnic by a big tree at Stoke Lodge. After that we tried out Olympic sports like hurdling, high jump and relay races. Then it was time to come home becasue we could see a big dark cloud heading for us. We managed to make it back to school just as it started to rain, it was great timing.

Its not all about the winning!

There are lots of amazing stories from the Olympics and there are not all about winning. Derek Redmond has a great athlete had worked really to get to the Olympics. Derek got a lot of help from his coach, family and firends to prepare for the Olympics. He started running in the 400m final when he got an serious injury. He was determined to finish so he got up and kept on going. He couldn't do it by himself so his dad helped him across the line. He didn't win gold but everyone around the world watched his race and saw his bravery.

Healthy Eating

We are learning about what is in our food and why we need to eat.  Can you help your child keep a record of what they have eaten over one day. They will be coming home with a worksheet to fill in over the weekend and bring back to school next week for our topic lessons.

If you would like some ideas for some yummy meals, the BBC Goodfood website have great recipes for kids. Why not try some of these recipes out and let me Mr Prosser know how they tasted.

Maybe you have your own favourite recipe? Write it down and bring it in to school to share with the class.

Shrove Tuesday

Happy Pancake Day!!
Here is a simple pancake you could try (Make sure you get an adult to help).

100g  plain flour
250ml milk
1 egg
pinch of salt
1 teaspoon of oil

1. Sieve the flour and salt in to a mixing bowl.
2. Crack open the egg and in the bowl.
3. Slowly pour in the milk and stir the mixture.
4. Pour the mixture in to jug and place in the fridge for 30 mins.
5. Heat up a frying pan with the oil and then carefully pour in the mixture (ask an adult for help with this).
6. Try to flip your pancake to cook both sides or use a spatula to turn the pancake.
7. Serve up your pancake with your favourite topping.

My favourite topping is banana and chocolate spread. What is yours?

When we heat the pancake mixture (a liquid) it turns in to a pancake (solid). Is this a reversible change or a permanent change?

Enjoy!
